Basic Medical Education Course (BMEC)

This is an introductory eye-opening course on the most essential knowledge and skills in clinical education. The design of BMEC enables the participants to experience and to actualize the contemporary learning theories and trends instead of just learning by didactic. The flipped course design is also a demonstration on how we put everything important into practice to maximize learning.
The contents of learning will include (but not limited to):
• Important learning theories and recent trends that inform our practice in learning and teaching.
• Various instructional methods that are tailor-made to address different learning needs.
• Some tactics to facilitate learning in classrooms, both face-to-face and online.
• Small group facilitating skills.
• Design a training course curriculum with simple steps.
• Basic principles and new trends of assessment
• An introduction to workplace-based assessment
• The important points in clinical feedback.
• Approach to support learners with difficulties.

Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) Course
Online Whole Day Course: 7 January 2023, 09:00-17:00
Fee: HKD $600
The one-day virtual Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) Course is one of the flagship courses of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Innovative Learning Centre for Medicine of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. This course aims to share the principles of performance review and workplace-based assessment, apply different methods of feedbacks with practicums on WBA assessments. The course also serves as a forum of community of practice for WBA. The target participants are for specialists to understand, apply and develop WBAs.
